Lady Gaga Addresses Her College Haters: "Gotta Keep Going"

Grammy and Oscar-winning pop culture icon Lady Gaga is doing pretty well for herself. But before she was a multi-platinum, record-breaking artist and household name, she was Stefani Germanotta, an aspiring artist willing to try things no one else was doing onstage.

During her time as a student at NYU’s Tisch School for the Arts, some of Gaga’s classmates failed to see the vision, and created a snarky group to badmouth their fellow student behind her back. The group was notoriously called “Stefani Germanotta, You Will Never Be Famous,” with a header image showing a large “X” drawn through her.

If the shame of being proven so deeply wrong wasn’t enough, Gaga herself has now chimed in on the existence of the Facebook group, years after it was uncovered.

“Some people I went to college with made this way back when,” she said via Instagram. “This is why you can’t give up when people doubt you or put you down — gotta keep going.”

Currently, Gaga is promoting her upcoming film project, Joker: Folie à Deux, which received a standing ovation following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. But for those excited to see her Manson-inspired performance as Harley Quinn, director Todd Haynes recently confirmed that the Jokerfinal installment sequel will be the of the series.
