ESPN Host Christine Williamson in Two-Piece Workout Gear Has a "Happy Off Day"

Christine Williamson is a rising star in the world of sports journalism, currently making waves as a host for ESPN and SportsCenter, after previously covering the Big 12. Known for her distinctive style and confident presence, Christine has built a brand that goes beyond her reporting skills. Recently, she shared a selfie on Instagram, sporting a black workout top with the caption “Happy off day,” giving her followers a glimpse into her laid-back, off-camera moments. Her journey to ESPN success didn’t happen overnight—it was shaped by her desire to challenge herself and stand out in a highly competitive field. From embracing her unique bald look to staying true to her values, Christine’s story is one of persistence, authenticity, and staying comfortable in her own skin. Here’s a look at how she carved out her own path in sports journalism and built a brand that resonates with so many people.

In an interview with Voyage Dallas, Williamson talked about finding her brand. “I started building my brand while I was in graduate school at Clemson University. I studied broadcast journalism at the University of Miami and went on to cover and report for Clemson’s Athletic Department. During my first week, I met Scott Van Pelt who at the time was doing a segment for ESPN’s SportsCenter called ‘Bald Man on Campus.’ It sparked the idea to make my unique look a focus of the brand I began building. I thought it was a great way for people to not feel confused or uncomfortable about the fact that I’m bald (even though it is a choice and I shave my head pretty much every day).

Williamson revealed to Voyage Dallas that she went into sports journalism to challenge herself. “I decided to go into sports reporting in undergrad. I was a broadcast journalism major, but I wasn’t really sure which path I wanted to take. I was an athlete an undergrad too, and a lot of the projects I was doing for school was sports-related just because I was always around it. I even had one professor ask me to do something other than sports! Around that time, another professor asked us what we planned on doing in the future. He specifically asked how many of us wanted to get into sports and we all raised our hands. He said something along of the lines of this being a very competitive industry, and that we should consider being in news. That sounded like a challenge to me, so I was like ‘Bet!’

In an interview with One37PM, Williamson talked about how she found her reporting attire. “The biggest thing for me was the fact that I didn’t want people to think I was going into sports to get attention from athletes. For me, I was trying to do things that wouldn’t draw too much attention to myself and not wear stuff that showed the form of my body. I wanted people to know that I was in this for the right reasons—not because I wanted to marry a football player. A lot of the style choices I made early on were in that regard.”

Williamson frequently shares photos of her outdoor activities, emphasizing the importance of spending time in the sun. She often mentions the benefits of fresh air and natural light, which help her stay energized and focused. Whether it’s during a workout or simply enjoying a day off, she values the mental and physical boost that being outside provides.

Williamson has shared glimpses of her post-workout recovery routine, which includes regular sauna sessions. The sauna helps her relax after a long day and is part of her self-care regimen. It’s a way for her to decompress and recharge, ensuring she stays at the top of her game both physically and mentally.
