Wild Pink has dropped their brand-new single, ‘Eating The Egg Whole,’ as they gear up to release their fifth full-length album, Dulling The Horns, out on October 4th via Fire Talk Records.
‘Eating The Egg Whole’ offers a glimpse into the more playful and experimental side of Wild Pink’s evolving sound. Driven by a chugging rhythm, the song weaves together frontman John Ross’ reflections on Michael Jordan documentaries and local sports history, adding a layer of humor and introspection. Ross’ raspy vocals deliver the clever line, “Nothing lasts forever,” encapsulating the fleeting nature of both sports and life itself.
Ross shared his inspiration for the track:
“This song came together when I was watching the Michael Jordan doc on Netflix. I grew up an Orioles fan and the connection between Jordan and DMV sports just kinda happened on its own. It’s also kind of about how unrelaxing it is to watch TV and scroll on your phone.”
With Dulling The Horns promising some of Ross’ most focused songwriting to date, ‘Eating The Egg Whole’ sets the tone for an album that balances Wild Pink’s signature blend of sincerity, creativity, and genre-bending energy.
