In 2014, General Hospital star Anthony Geary admitted to having an affair with Hollywood screen icon Elizabeth Taylor after she guest starred on the soap opera. The confession shocked fans after Geary stayed silent about the swirling rumors for decades before finally copping up to the high-profile tryst.

Anthony Geary, who made his General Hospital debut in 1978, played one half of the soap world’s iconic couple, Luke and Laura. Elizabeth Taylor, who was a huge fan of the onscreen soap couple, begged to be invited to their show wedding in 1981. Taylor finally scored a guest spot in 1981 as Helena Cassiadine and appeared in a few episodes before the role was recast.

Shortly after her guest stint on The General Hospital, reports emerged that Elizabeth Taylor was embroiled in an scandalous affair with the soap star Anthony Geary, aka Luke Spencer. After the rumors intensified, in a 1983 People article, Geary denied being romantically involved with Taylor.

Three decades later, Geary changed his tune. In a 2014 interview on “The Wendy Williams Show,” Geary admitted that he was Hollywood screen icon Elizabeth Taylor’s “boy toy” during the early 1980s.

When asked about the rumors, Geary told Williams, “I used to never talk about my relationship with Elizabeth Taylor because I’m a gentleman and don’t kiss and tell, but she did an interview a few years ago for Talk Magazine where she outed us as more than friends. … Yeah, so I don’t mind telling that. I was sort of her boy toy for a couple of years.”

Geary revealed Taylor was distraught after he was misquoted in the People article. Geary recalled receiving a call from Taylor after the article titled “Anthony Geary looking for life after Luke… Admits his affair with Elizabeth Taylor was a hoax” hit the stands in 1983.

Geary said he never called their relationship a hoax but said, ‘No, we are just friends.’ However, an audibly upset Elizabeth Taylor reportedly called him and said, “Tony? I hear you told People Magazine that we didn’t sleep together. That’s the worst thing that anyone has ever said about me.”

It should be noted that Elizabeth Taylor was married to Senator John Warner until 1982. It is unclear if the pair were involved before or after her divorce from Warner.
