Shanon Biles is hopeful for a relationship with her daughter, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, but is waiting for Simone to make the first move. Shanon, the biological mother of a gymnastics star, spoke to the Daily Mail about her hope to one day seek forgiveness from the Olympian for her past actions.

The 52-year-old, who still resides in Columbus, Ohio, where her daughters Simone, 27, and Adria Biles, 22, were born, remembered losing two of her daughters first to foster care and then to adoption by her father, Ronald Biles, 75, and his wife, Nellie Biles, due to her struggles with substance abuse.

“I would like to make amends with Simone personally — I’m just waiting for her and [her younger sister] Adria,” Shanon said to the Daily Mail. “I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward.

“I’m waiting for the opportunity but I’m waiting on her to be able to come to me. Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient.”

The outlet dropped the interview with Shanon shortly after the conclusion of the Summer Olympics. Simone brought home three gold medals and a silver, raising her career medal tally to an impressive 11.

Shanon shared that she had been following the Paris Games from her home in Columbus, Ohio, where Simone and her sister had once lived before moving between foster homes and ultimately being adopted by their grandparents in Texas. Shanon would gather with friends and neighbors to watch the games together.

Simone Biles’ Biological Mother Doesn’t Currently Have Direct Communication with Her

Although she takes pride in watching Simone maintain her dominance in gymnastics, the two are not close and currently lack direct communication.

“What I hear about Simone I hear through my dad. I speak to my dad all the time. We’re good now. It was just his birthday, and I called to wish him happy birthday,” Shanon revealed.

“If I need to know anything I call my dad. I ask him about Simone, and he keeps me posted,” she continued.

Ron and Nellie Biles raised Simone and Adria in the Houston, Texas area. The setting offered them the stable home life that had eluded them while living with their biological mother.

Shanon shared with the Daily Mail that she is now clean and sober. She has secured a position as a cashier at Save A Lot, a discount grocery store.

Shanon told the outlet that she currently has Simone’s phone number. However, she wants her daughter to make first contact on her own accord.

“I want her to reach out to me,” Shanon insisted. “She’s 27 now. She’s married. I would have liked to have been a part of that, but I just have to wait for her. You can’t push anybody.”

“It hasn’t happened yet, but I have patience. I’m waiting on her,” she added.
