“Literally any guy can do this. It does not take that much skill,” he said in the video.

“My strategy was extremely simple. I would go around my neighborhood and knock on every single house door,” he added.

The TikToker said he would build rapport with his neighbors by explaining that he also lived in the area.

After gaining their trust, the influencer would pretend to offer a $50 discount on his cleaning services so that homeowners would be more tempted to accept.

He also said he appreciated the flexibility of the side hustle which allowed him to make his own hours and cut back as he needed to.

“That’s another cool thing about having your own business, you kind of decide when you want to work and how much you want to get paid per project,” he explained.

Towards the end of the video, the TikToker actually encourages every single viewer to start their own business in some capacity at a young age.

He said it was helpful for him to get out of an “employee mindset” where he was constantly taking orders or responsibilities from a superior.

People in his comments section said it may not be that easy, depending on where someone is located.

“I had tried to go around and ask to wash cars. Literally nobody accepts,” one user responded to the video.

Others are skeptical of the amount that the TikToker claimed to be making from the side hustle.

“I tried doing the windows in my neighborhood it didn’t work, I haven’t tried cars tho but I doubt you can make 10k a month off of it,” another user said.

There were some optimistic comments, asking the TikToker for more information on how much they should charge per house and what supplies were necessary to start this business.

SIDE GIG SURGE

According to Forbes, side hustles are thriving in today’s tough economy

Side hustles and tax implications

The extra income made from side hustles may need to be reported to the IRS.

If you receive more than $600 in gross payouts from a selling platform like eBay, the site will issue you a Form 1099-K to use in your tax return.

Individuals should calculate their adjusted gross income, taxable earnings, and deductions for the year.

Once they have that, they can use the 1040-ES form to calculate estimated taxes.

According to a new study conducted by One Poll on behalf of Herbalife, 40% of Americans are turning to side hustles and 48% of them started solely to make ends meet.

With inflated prices, it’s not surprising that people are searching for a second source of income.

For others, it’s an opportunity to work on a passion project and market it simultaneously.

Side hustles provide networking opportunities or the chance to socialize and meet new people.

Many times, those with side hustles prefer remote work and hybrid schedules.
