Taylor Swift’s Ex Matty Healy ‘Loves The Attention’ From ‘TTPD’

On one hand, the accomplished guitarist was pleased with the attention the album had brought him, as it seemed several songs were about him. He also found the album “hilarious” because he and the pop star were never in a serious relationship.

Matty Healy and Taylor Swift dated for a brief period of time and have since moved on to dating other people after splitting in June 2023.

Swift’s 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” has kept fans talking since it debuted over one month ago due to the nature of its lyrics and how it surprisingly shed light on her whirlwind romance with Healy.

Many fans have speculated that a lot of the songs were written about Healy, whom Swift was linked with following her split from actor Joe Alwyn.

While the pop star herself has yet to confirm or deny the speculations, a friend of Healy has spoken up about how the 1975 frontman feels about it all.

“He loves the attention it’s brought to him, [but] he also thinks it’s hilarious because at no time [were they] ever serious,” the pal told US Weekly.

Healy’s friend also clarified that some of the lyrics suggesting Swift and Healy had discussed having children and living together weren’t true, stating, “It had never even come up.”

He added that although Healy felt “completely blindsided” by TTPD’s “lyrical content,” the singer is “taking it in stride.”

Back in April, Healy was approached by a paparazzi to give his opinion about Swift’s album, given that the pop star seemingly dissed him in some of the tracks.

At the time, the singer shared that he had yet to give the album a thorough listen. However, he noted that Swift’s project would undoubtedly be good.

“I haven’t really listened to that much of it, but I’m sure it’s good,” the 35-year-old remarked, per The Blast.

While Healy’s remarks did not reveal much, his aunt, Debbie Dedes, seemed to claim that Swift’s track gave a one-sided view of her relationship with the English singer-songwriter.

“Nothing surprises him anymore,” she said in an interview with the DailyMail. “He will not be surprised by the song. [He] and her know what went on.”

She added, “As my nephew, we know a bit more about what went on than has been in the press.”

Healy and Swift were first linked in 2014 after they were seen in public wearing each other’s merch, and the pop star was spotted attending a couple of The 1975’s shows.

While the speculations died down months after, they were linked again in early May 2023 after Healy attended one of Swift’s Nashville Eras Tour concerts.

This was followed by the duo sending each other cryptic messages while on stage at their respective tours and later being spotted at a diner that same month.

Then, in June, sources confirmed that they were no longer “romantically involved” and that what they had was “never serious.”

Some also claimed that they called it quits because they were both “extremely busy” and “not really compatible with each other.”

Swift has since begun a relationship with Travis Kelce, an NFL star who plays for the Kansas City Chief tight end.

The pop star went public with their relationship in September 2023 and has often attended Kelce’s games to show her support. Despite his football commitments, Kelce has reciprocated by attending several of the singer’s concerts.

Meanwhile, Healy has been linked to influencer Gabbriette Bechtel. Although their relationship has stayed largely under the radar, they have been spotted enjoying PDA moments in public on rare occasions.

When Healy and Swift’s relationship was confirmed, some fans of the singer were not very supportive as the 1975 musician had made some controversial remarks.

Some fans posted comments on social media at the time, calling on Swift to cut ties with Healy and set the record straight about their then-rumored romance.

Fans also dug up past interviews with Healy, which showed him making controversial remarks about other musicians, particularly rapper Ice Spice, with whom Swift eventually collaborated on the remix of her song “Karma.”
