A Pittsburgh reporter went viral this weekend when he was approached by a belligerent woman during an on-air segment. The newscaster was attempting to provide commentary on site outside of a Kenny Chesney concert at Acrisure Stadium.
Instead, he found himself face to face with the likely intoxicated fan as she came in for an embrace. Reacting quickly, the reporter hit the woman with one of the most impeccable swim moves you’ll ever see – and it was all caught on live TV!
He didn’t miss a beat!
The newsman involved in that incident was Andrew Havranek of WPXI. While reporting outside of the venue, a crowd of concertgoers gathered around Havranek in hopes of getting their faces on the airwaves.
Then, one woman decided to cross the line.
I’m fine, but this isn’t okay.
I’m not the first reporter this has happened to, and sadly won’t be the last.
Don’t mess with a reporter, or anyone, especially while they’re trying to do their jobs. pic.twitter.com/DTkh0L9j5C

Unphased by the attempt, Havranek dispatched the fan while giving his best TJ Watt impression. The reporter went on with his segment while the swim move sent the woman tumbling to the ground.
After experiencing the unwanted interaction, Havranek posted a response on social media.
“I’m fine, but this isn’t okay, ” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “I’m not the first reporter this has happened to, and sadly won’t be the last. Don’t mess with a reporter, or anyone, especially while they’re trying to do their jobs.”
As the newsman states, he’s far from the first reporter to be involved in this type of incident and he won’t be the last. While he seemed to take the awkward moment in stride, he was clearly upset with the fan – even if she did give him the chance to flex that unexpected athleticism.
Next time you see a camera rolling for your local news station, heed Havranek’s advice. Don’t be that person!
