BILLIE Eilish has opened up about the great lengths she went to for the cover of her new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.
The 22-year-old singer has been on the road promoting the album’s May 17th release.

Billie’s latest stop was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she jokingly recounted how she “almost died” after being submerged in water for hours to capture the album’s cover art.
“This was the day after this last Grammys,” the Ocean Eyes singer explained as Stephen showed the album cover of her floating in the water.
“I had gone to sleep at 7 am, I woke up, I dyed my hair black…and then I went to this random place in Santa Clarita. There’s a tank in this giant place and it was like 10 feet deep, and I popped my little a** in there. And I was in there for six hours,” Billie recalled.
She further revealed she was fully clothed with a “weight strapped to me” so she stayed in place for the camera.

“I didn’t have a nose plug, so I was basically waterboarding myself for six hours,” the Bad Guy singer told the host.
Billie then joked that nearly faced death “so many times” during the shoot to capture the best shot.

Despite the terrifying experience, the Everything I Wanted singer admitted it was her idea to do the underwater photoshoot.
“I need to suffer,” Billie said. “Honest to God, yes. It’s not like, ‘What can I do that’ll be the most uncomfortable that I could possibly dream of?’ It’s more that I think about the visual before I think about how it’s going to make me feel. I’m like, ‘I wanna be fully dressed underwater, eyes open, upside down,’ and then I deal with how horrible it is.”

Billie already has tour dates set where fans will hear more of her new music.
The tour will kick off on September 29 in Quebec, Canada, before heading to the United States with its first stop in Baltimore, Maryland.
By February 2025, the show will move overseas, with performances in Australia, Europe, and concluding in Dublin, Ireland, that July.
Last month, Billie warned fans about ticket scamming ahead of the their presale April 30, and availability to the general public May 3.
“Guyssss watch out for scams,” the California native wrote on her Instagram Stories.
“No tickets have been sold yet for the tour!!!!! Do not buy tickets from anyone claiming to sell tickets before the official onsale.”

Around the same time, she teased her upcoming tour by posting a photo of her wearing her new merchandise.
Billie was recently featured on the cover of Rolling Stone, where she described her new album as an opportunity to “reintroduce herself.”
The pop star explained she had to “revisit” her past self to create new music, especially after battling with depression and opening up about her sexuality last year.
Billie shared with Variety that she was attracted to both men and women and even shared a kiss with influencer Quenlin Blackwell at Coachella earlier this month.

“I feel like this album is me,” the songwriter told Rolling Stone.
“It’s not a character. It feels like the When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? version of me. It feels like my youth and who I was as a kid.”
Billie also gushed over her album title, Hit Me Hard and Soft, calling it “a perfect encapsulation” of the songs’ effects.
“It’s an impossible request: You can’t be hit hard and soft. You can’t do anything hard and soft at the same time,” the What Was I Made For? singer said.
“I’m a pretty extremist person, and I really like when things are really intense physically, but I also love when things are very tender and sweet,” Billie added.
