AMERICAN Idol host Ryan Seacrest has announced a musical tribute planned for the show alum, Mandisa, who has died at 47.
Mandisa was found dead in her Tennessee home on Friday morning.
In tonight’s episode of American Idol, Ryan gave a shoutout in memoriam of the star.
“Before we take a break I wanted to take a moment to honor a dear member of the Idol family who we sadly lost this week, Mandisa,” Ryan told American Idol audiences.
“She was an inspiration during her time on this show and beyond,” he stated.
“We are going to celebrate her next week with a special musical tribute,” the host declared.
“Our hearts go out to her family and all of those like us who call her a friend,” Ryan concluded.
A cause of death has not been confirmed, but an investigation into the singer’s death is ongoing.
Mandisa competed on American Idol on season five back in 2006.
