Gisele and husband Tom Brady follow his TB12 method, which is basically an even healthier version of the traditional 80/20 diet. The majority of the time they eat organically grown fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes. However, instead of eating whatever they want the other 20 percent, it consists mainly of grass-fed, organic, antibiotic- and hormone-free lean meats and wild-caught fish or seafood.
Gisele regularly meditates. “Meditation has been an incredible gift in my life. Just 10 minutes of practice a day can change your day–and creating a regular meditation practice can change your life,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “It has transformed mine! If meditation is challenging for you, perhaps you can start off with a guided meditation, or with some nature sounds, or mantras. Whatever works best for you.”
Gisele is a devoted yogi, regularly sharing photos of herself getting her zen on. “Many years ago, after going through one of the most difficult times in my life, I immersed myself in the very deep process of getting to know myself better,” she wrote on Instagram. She added that as a result of her practice, she “came out of that period stronger and happier, and knowing that no matter how difficult challenges appear in the moment, they always bring with them an opportunity for transformation.”
Gisele’s diet is very plant focused. “At our house, we try to eat organic foods that are in season and locally grown,” she told Marie Claire about diet of choice. “We believe that by buying locally, we’ll have a better chance at getting foods that are fresh and also support local farmers. We eat mostly a plant-based diet.”
Gisele’s lifestyle is incredibly active. “I love any type of exercise that I can do outdoors; horseback riding, biking, and skiing are some of my favorite ways to stay active and connect with nature,” she explained to Marie Claire. “Not only do these activities help me stay in shape, but they help in giving me clarity and perspective. Being active fuels my body, mind, and soul. It just makes me happy.”
Every once and awhile, Gisele does allow herself to indulge. “I’m not super strict and believe everything is OK in moderation,” she told Marie Claire. “My ultimate guilty pleasure is dark chocolate.” “Chocolate can be a part of a healthy diet. Like any food, the less processed it is, the better it is. In this case, more cocoa and less added fat and sugar allows us to increase our phytonutrient intake without empty calories. Add a little cocoa to your morning coffee, oatmeal, or smoothie. Enjoy a small piece of 60-70% dark chocolate,” says the Mayo Clinic.
