The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is being tipped to make an acting comeback in a new “Suits” spin-off.
According to reports, such a move would “guarantee headlines” even though it is still uncertain whether the duchess would be willing to cope with the intensity of filming another series.
It is also being rumored she would earn several times more than she made on “Suits” as her profile has risen since she left the legal drama.
PR Expert Claims Meghan Markle’s ‘Suits’ Return Will Break The Internet
Lovers of “Suits” would soon see a new spin-off hit their screens in the near future, once again created by the mastermind behind the legal drama.
Although not much is known about the new show apart from the fact that it would feature a leading female character, rumors have begun to swirl about the possibility of Meghan Markle making an acting comeback, having previously starred as one of the main characters in “Suits.”
A PR expert, Matt Yanofsky, predicts that Meghan’s possible return “would guarantee headlines” both for her and the show. However, Yanofsky does feel there are a couple of questions to be addressed before it happens, even with many other Hollywood women being potential choices for the role.
“Does Meghan want to work this much and go to a set every week? Based on what happened with her podcast, she likely doesn’t want such a stressful, time-consuming job,” Yanofsky said in an interview with The Mirror, adding that he is skeptical that the female lead role in the new show was created for the duchess.
Meghan Markle’s ‘Suits’ Co-star Keen For Her Return
Meghan’s “Suits” co-star, Patrick J. Adams, is keen to see the mother of two return. He expressed his desire for her comeback while discussing the possibility of a “Suits” spin-off at the Golden Globe Awards.
“Yes, yes, let’s go, I’ll do it. Yeah, I’m ready, Mike and Rachel in Seattle, Adams said in an interview, referencing their roles in the legal drama.
Meghan previously earned approximately $50,000 per episode in “Suits” for the more than 100 episodes she recorded, which made her annual salary at least $500,000, excluding royalties.
With her profile having increased since leaving “Suits,” it is believed that she stands to make a lot of money if she is cast, according to another PR expert, Mayah Riaz.
“In terms of her fee, given Meghan’s increased profile since leaving Suits, it is reasonable to expect that her asking price would be significantly higher than her previous salary,” Riaz told The Mirror, adding that the salary could range between $300,000-$400,000 per episode.
The Duchess Previously Hinted At New Projects For 2024
Whether or not Meghan returns in the new “Suits” spin-off, fans will still see her release new projects this year.
During her appearance at an event for Variety last year, she hinted at the proposed projects, which may be released via her and her husband’s production company, Archewell Productions.
“We have so many exciting things on the slate. I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating.” Meghan told the publication on the red carpet.
She added, “My husband is loving it too, which is really fun,” which hinted that Harry had an active role in the birthing of the new projects.
It is unclear what the projects would be about, as the former actress didn’t share. However, Meghan pointed out that she intends to create “things that make people feel” and promote a “sense of community.”
Is Meghan Markle Ready To Face The Public Life?
As rumors continue to swirl about the duchess’ return to the entertainment industry, a source has shared reasons why this would happen soon.
Speaking with the Express, royal biographer Emily Andrews pointed to Meghan’s recent barrage of public appearances as one of the key signs that she is ready to face public life once again and is aware of her “commercial value.”
The mother-of-two has been spotted in the company of two female Hollywood top shots, Oscars chair Janet Yang and Univeral Studio Group chair Pearlena Igbokwe.
She was also seen actively involved in the Invictus Games, the annual sports events founded by her husband, Prince Harry.
According to Andrews, Meghan joining the Hollywood agency WME also shows she is ready to “relaunch” her career. She also claimed that both parties are working on a “new money-making.
