Amid the chaos surrounding Tyreek Hill on the home front, coach Mike McDaniel has disclosed just how unbothered he is about the Miami Dolphins player having a high drop rate. The coach’s disclosure comes on the heels of a fire gutting down Hill’s home on January 3.
Mike McDaniel Has No Doubt About Tyreek Hill’s Performance On The Field
Hill has arguably excelled as the league’s top wide receiver this season, leading in receiving yards (1,799), touchdowns (13), and yards per touch (14.5). Despite his standout performance, he ranks second in the league for drops with 11, just behind Los Angeles Rams’ Puka Nacua’s 12 and on par with Cleveland Browns’ David Njoku.
However, that is no concern for McDaniel, who gushed about the 29-year-old in the team’s transcript. In the words of the 49-year-old:
“I think when you are a player of his caliber that our team depends on so much, that can be a little misleading in terms of he gets a ton of targets and when we go to him in high-stake situations, it’s not like he is just gliding in open field.”
Continuing his defense of the NFL star, McDaniel added:
“They’re pretty contested. And he’s proven time and time again why we continue to go to him. There are zero people, including myself, that are concerned about a pattern of whatever. He has a high expectation to literally make every play. And in that process, there’s no such thing as a 100 percent shooter.”
McDaniel’s high praise comes just a couple of days after officials resolved the mystery surrounding the fire at that gutted Hill’s South Florida home.
Per The Blast, even though there were no victims, as the football player and his wife, Keeta Vaccaro, were not at home, officials have blamed somebody in their residence at the time of the fire for the incident. A Florida’s Davie Fire Department spokesperson revealed that a young child in one of the mansion’s bedrooms initiated the inferno at Hill’s property.
The child, whose identity remains unknown, accidentally caused the incident while playing with a lighter. However, the details of how the youngster started the blaze may never be uncovered due to the absence of further investigations.
Succinctly put, the Davie Fire Department confirmed they would not pursue the matter, deeming the child’s actions as “accidental.” However, questions about the child, their relation to Hill, and whether they were home alone remain.
Fans Aired Their Opinion On Hill’s Reaction To His Home Fire
Before the update on the fire department’s investigation, The Blast reported that Hill and his wife had hurried to their Southwest Ranches, Florida home, after being alerted about the fire.
Fans saw the athlete’s reaction in a video uploaded from sources depicting him and Vaccaro outside their still-burning mansion, alongside other concerned onlookers. While appearing visibly upset by the situation, Hill took his hands out of the pockets of the black joggers he wore before saying something to his bride and pointing at his left leg.
In case you missed it, the Garden City alumnus is recovering from an ankle injury, with the left foot encased in a protective walking boot. Despite his wife’s attempt to comfort him by rubbing his back, there was a moment when he walked away, seemingly trying to calm down while helplessly observing his mansion in flames.
The video, shared by JPA Football, captured the couple’s arrival as firefighters continued battling the fire with the caption: “Tyreek Hill and his wife have made it to their house as firefighters are still trying to put out the blaze.”
The clip expectedly got viewers talking in the replies as one person wrote, “Gotta be thankful nobody got hurt, scary way to start the year tho,” a second noted, “He’s clearly p—d he can’t do anything,” and a third fan indicated that Hills was actually, “mad at her though,” in reference to his wife.
Meanwhile, a fourth directed his message to naysayers attacking Hills, typing, “Y’all stop posting video of the man and leave him alone. The man’s house is burning down in front of his face. Public figure or not, have a little respect.”
The South Florida mansion, a 9,300-square-foot property with two guest homes, a full-size basketball court, a spacious pool, a home theater, seven bedrooms, and eight bathrooms, was purchased by Hills in 2022 for $6.9 million.
