Speaking after the Los Angeles Chargers’ disgusting blowout loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night, ESPN insider Dan Graziano suggested on the Friday episode of Get Up! that there is mutual interest between the Chargers and Bill Belichick.
Given that Brandon Staley’s time as Chargers’ head coach is all but done for, the speculation over who will succeed him will only continue to heat up from here, especially considering that the talent on the roster, particularly QB Justin Herbert, makes the job perhaps the most attractive (available) one in the NFL,
Frequent Get Up! panelist Dan Graziano has already added fuel to the fire, as he said he’s heard “chatter” that there could be mutual interest between the Chargers and Belichick.
“You talk about stuff that floats around in league circles at this time of year, you start to hear chatter,” Graziano began.
“If, in fact, the Chargers move on from Brandon Staley — if, in fact, the Patriots move on from Bill Belichick, is that a spot for Belichick if he wants to continue coaching? Chase down Don Shula’s record, I would not be surprised if there was some mutual interest there.”
Every reasonable NFL fan should be rooting for this move to happen as the idea of Bill Belichick in LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA is simply too hilarious of a premise to pass up.
While Staley’s future with the Chargers all season, Thursday night’s embarrassing 63-21 loss to the Raiders in which his team virtually quit on him is all but the final nail in the coffin of his tenure.
At the time of this writing, Staley has yet to be relieved of his duties as Chargers head coach. With three games left on their schedule this season, the Chargers still have to face off against the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, and Kansas City Chiefs.
