Congratulations are in order to Britney Spears, who announced Monday that she is pregnant.
In an Instagram post, Spears revealed that she is expecting her third child — and first with Sam Asghari.
“I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back … I thought ‘Geez … what happened to my stomach ???’ My husband said ‘No you’re food pregnant silly !!!” So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby …,” she wrote in an emoji-filled Instagram post.
Spears also opened up about some of her struggles during past pregnancies. “It’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression … I have to say it is absolutely horrible… women didn’t talk about it back then.” Her first son Sean Federline was born in 2005, and her second son Jayden Federline followed in 2006.
That may not be the end of the good news; she recently hinted that she had gotten married to fiancé Asghari. On April 8th, the pop singer wrote, “Here’s me shooting pics of my HUSBAND,” which seems to suggest a secret wedding ceremony. Check out her full social media statement below.
Spears has not been shy about her desire to have another child. During the legal battle over her conservatorship, the 40-year-old superstar claimed that a team led by her father, Jamie Spears, had barred her from getting pregnant. “I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told I can’t get married. I have an IUD inside me but this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to remove it because they don’t want me to have anymore children.” She added, “This conservatorship is doing me way more harm then good.”
Spears became engaged in September 2021, and her conservatorship was terminated by the court in November 2021. Since then Congress has invited her to testify, she signed a book deal for a tell-all memoir, and continued feuding with her family, including filing a cease-and-desist letter against her sister Jamie Lynn. After all that stress, having a baby one more time is undoubtedly good news. If you’d like, you can revisit our list of her 10 best songs.
