‘Such weather we’re having right now’ I scream into the void as another pair of my Rainbow sandals literally melted to my back porch. It really and truly is that hot. My flip-flops melted and a box cutter I foolishly left outside liquified and now there’s a puddle of melted plastic where I was spitting a hose…
That is down here in the South where the humidity has spiked the daily heat index but it is dangerously hot everywhere, that’s despite people foolishly and falsely claiming online that the global heatwaves are bogus.
To illustrate just how hot and dangerous it is right now in Zion, Utah, park rangers from Zion National Park baked cookies. They sought to show how brutally and dangerously hot it is inside of cars parked in Zion National Park so they set a tray of cookie dough on the dashboard:
The highest ‘feels like’ temperature at Zion National Park today is 105 which is considerably lower than it is in Florida, Texas, etc. But 105 inside of a car is lethally hot.
In the video, the Zion Park rangers show that it only takes 3-5 hours to bake cookies on a car’s dashboard. They attempted to show the temperature using a thermometer but it completely melted and broke.
During the Summer, temperatures inside cars parked in Zion National Park can quickly reach 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Suffice it to say, no pets, children, or any living/breathing creature should be left inside a car parked in the desert in the Summer. Or parked anywhere in the Summer for that matter.
The video is also available to watch on Facebook Reels.
Should you ever get the chance to visit Zion, do it. It’s gorgeous.
