Another generative AI mash-up has been created by ‘ghostwriter,’ this time featuring Bad Bunny and Rihanna.
The song was uploaded on Tuesday, April 25 thand appears to be by the same person behind the Drake and The Weeknd AI collab song, “Heart On My Sleeve.” That release was quickly ripped down from all major DSPs, with UMG asking Spotify and others to prevent the AI track from being made available on its services.
This latest track was uploaded directly to SoundCloud, YouTube, and TikTok—skipping all DSPs. The song is only a minute long and is called “Por Qué,” featuring Bad Bunny vocals over reggaeton beats with Rihanna singing, “Baby you shine so bright/Like diamonds in the sky/ I feel alive/ But now you got me thinking.”
Underneath the SoundCloud clip, a message from the creator reads “They tried to shut us down. I used AI to make a Bad Bunny song ft. Rihanna. This video will be removed in 24 hours, they tried to quiet my brother. But we will prevail.”
Neither Bad Bunny nor Rihanna have responded to requests for a comment on the new generative AI song. Generative AI mash-ups are accelerating as AI technology evolves. David Guetta showcased what was possible by creating an EDM hit with Eminem rapping over the track. He never released it commercially—but now that generative AI is in the hands of the masses people are looking for places to store these songs.
The developers of a new product called Beatly Music are hoping to be the repository to store AI hits—whether they are authorized or not.
“Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the power of AI-powered music with the recent viral song by @ghostwriter on TikTok. We’ve tried to go back to Napster days to imagine a product where people can put up new, exciting AI mashup music and not be scared of it being taken down or sued by UMG,” the developers claim.
