One thing the members of BTS are not known to do is waste time. Since completing his mandatory enlistment period in the South Korean military in June, Jin has recorded and now begun to roll out music for his first solo album, Happy. He’s led with an upbeat, anthemic song called “I’ll Be There” — stream it below.
The throwback, early rock-inspired track offers Jin the chance to show off his wide-ranging vocals. “With this song I say to you/ I swear that I will always sing for you/ I’ll be there for you,” he sings on the chorus in a mix of Korean and English.
The bright, inviting song is in line with the vibe of the album as we know it so far; in a statement about the project, he revealed that he “worked on the album with the hope that those who listen to the album will also find joy.” Happy will arrive in full in just a few short weeks on November 15th.
In the meantime, Jin was also able to welcome home his bandmate j-hope, who became the second BTS member to complete enlistment on October 17th. Jin swung by the military site to collect j-hope and usher him back to civilian life.
