People in the trading card world are calling this one of the best $10K box openings ever and they’re right. It is incredibly rare to see a box practically double in worth once its opened but that’s what happened when Nick and Nora from the Nmplol channel opened a $10,000 2000 Pokémon Base Set 2 Booster Box and pulled hit after hit after hit.

The full video of the 2000 Pokémon Base Set 2 Booster Box is nearly 24 minutes long. By all means, watch the full video as I’ve included it below and it is worth your time if you’re a diehard Pokémon TCG or trading card fanatic. But there’s a shorter clip below from Threads that shows the biggest hits and how this $10,000 box that’s been sealed since the year 2000 produces pure gold.

As you can see from the caption on Threads, they pull a Holo Charizard, Holo Blastoise, Holo Venusaur, and Holo Alakazam:

The grand total in cards they pulled from the 2000 Pokémon Base Set 2 Booster Box was $18,034 (PSA 10 cards). Some highlights from the pulls, in addition to the Holo Charizard, Holo Blastoise, Holo Venusaur, and Holo Alakazam cards, include the Zapdos, Mewtwo, and others. For those wondering, here are the time stamps of the big holo ‘hits’ from this box: Holo Pull Timestamps: 2:38 Poliwrath, 4:43 Blastoise, 6:16 Nidoking, 8:44 Mewtwo, 11:24 Chansey, 12:20 Gyarados, 13:51 Wigglytuff, 14:20 Hitmonchan, 15:53 Venusaur, 16:39 Charizard, 18:51 Zapdos, 19:36 Clefable, 21:23 Alakazam, 22:58 Recap of all the pulls.

Best Pokémon Box Opening Of The Year?

That Charizard alone at PSA 10 price is worth an estimated $8,500 for that single card. Unreal. They made back 85% of the cost of the box just on that Charizard alone. That PSA 10 Blastoise is estimated to be worth $1,114. Tack on that chunky holo Venusaur that at PSA 10 is worth $710. Those three cards alone paid for the entire box and everything else was icing on the top. Of course, they’ll have to find buyers for those cards but that’s the market value as of now.

If that isn’t the ‘Box of the Year’ within the Pokémon TCG world then I don’t know what is. Surging Sparks is all the rage right now and those boxes are flying off shelves. Individual Surging Sparks booster packs are currently sold out at all of the Target stores around me, to give you a sense of how popular it has gotten, but there’s nothing quite like opening a vintage box and pulling EVERY holo card you ever wanted.
