Musicians have to deal with plenty of unexpected issues when they’re on tour. Jeezy encountered a major headache after the weather threw a hitch in his plans to travel from a show in South Carolina to his next concert in Baltimore, but he managed to make it after getting a major assist from an Uber driver who agreed to make a very lengthy trip.

Organizing a concert tour can be a bit of a logistical nightmare due to all of the aspects that need to be taken into consideration while planning one, and while the artists that serve as the main attraction usually have a team that handles the details for them, they still have to deal with the fallout if things don’t go according to plan.

With the exception of the money those tours are designed to generate, time and efficiency tend to be the most valuable forms of currency when you’re on the road, as the ideal one is optimized to minimize the amount of time that’s wasted between stops.

However, that can also lead to some fairly hectic situations when things don’t go according to plan, and one of the more notable rappers Atlanta has produced needed to think fast in order to address the one he recently found himself facing.

Jeezy convinced an Uber driver in South Carolina to drive him 10 hours so he wouldn’t miss his show in Baltimore

It’s been 20 years since the rapper who was then known as “Young Jeezy” dropped Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, which eventually went double platinum with the help of tracks including “Soul Survivor” (the standout single with Akon on the hook), “My Hood,” and “Go Crazy” (which features a vintage verse from a supposedly retired Jay-Z).

The 47-year-old (who has since dropped “Young” from his stage name) opted to mark the record’s 20th anniversary with a tour that kicked off in Miami at the end of July, and he was slated to head to Baltimore on August 1st after taking a few days to decompress in his native Georgia following back-to-back shows in Atlanta and Savannah.

His plan to travel up to Maryland on the day of the show hit a hitch due to inclement weather that led to hundreds of flights at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport being canceled that morning, and while Jeezy attempted to catch a flight out of South Carolina, things took another turn after the car that tasked with ferrying him there had its gas tank punctured by an object it struck on the highway while en route.

According to a post Jeezy shared on Instagram, an Uber was dispatched to his location to drive him to the airport where the weather still had the potential to interfere with his plans. He subsequently asked the driver, a guy named Tanner, if he’d be willing to drive him all the way to Baltimore, and he agreed to do exactly that after receiving an unspecified but likely generous offer to give him some extra motivation to accept.

Based on the rapper’s account, it took them about 10 hours to make it to the venue and arrived there around 10 minutes before the show was about to start. Tanner also had the chance to unwind before heading back to South Carolina, as he was invited backstage and received a shirt featuring the iconic “Snowman” logo.

You love to see it.
