IF you are planning a wedding right now, you’ll know just how quickly everything can add up.
One bride-to-be is refusing to give up on her dream day though and has asked TikTok users to help fund it.
Like many brides, Leah Higgins was horrified to learn how much a wedding costs.
With the average wedding costing over £20,000 and little ones to care for, the busy mum was determined to find ways to spread the cost.
Though she and her partner had been saving, the content creator is desperate to boost her bank balance before her wedding day in 2026.
Despite just inviting close family and friends, the influencer was still struggling to pay for her small wedding.
Even having it at her local registry office was expensive, with the venue costing around £300.
Having built up an impressive 64,000-strong following on TikTok, she realised that she could also use the app to achieve her goal.
If you are wondering how this is possible, Lah explained that she was relying on the Tiktok Creator Fund.
During a now-viral video, she explained: “Every time I post a video that is more than a minute long, I get pennies for it…and it literally is pennies. But as we all know, pennies can really add up.”
According to the mummy influencer, one of her videos had already gained over 300,000 views – with her earning £150 from the Tiktok Creator Fund.
Rather than treat it as a one off, Leah decided to crunch the numbers to see how many views it would take to pay for her dream wedding.
She then came up with a startling figure: 15 million views.
Even if this occurred over multiple videos, the influencer realised that she could reach that figure in the next two years – especially as she only needs 1000 views for a video to qualify for the fund.
Curious to know whether she could actually fund her wedding, she set herself the ambitious task of creating more monetizable content.
Despite this clever hack not costing users a penny, the mum-of-three has been targeted by trolls.
In fact, her page has been littered with cruel comments about her plan with others dubbing her ‘greedy’.
One read: “Well get a proper job with a decent wage. How rude asking for money.”
“A wedding is a want, not a need and a silly thing in the middle of a cost of living crisis,” another pointedly wrote, adding: “Wise up girl and yes, it’s cheeky, very cheeky.”
A third even questioned why they should care when they too were struggling.
They commented: “I have £3 in my account and I’m a single mum. I don’t really care about your wedding.”
Others were impressed with Leah’s entrepreneurial ways, with many of her fans viewing her videos multiple times.
“Every time one of your videos comes on my For You Page, I know it’s time to go make a cup of tea whilst it plays,” revealed a fourth.
A fifth argued: “[I] think people need to understand that TikTok is a job, you are a creator [and] it’s the same as a normal job even though it’s not the same pay…keep going girl!”
Some even boosted the video by adding new conversations in the chats.
If only every bride could use this hack.
