Anamanaguchi unleashes Batman-inspired single ‘Magnet’ ahead of new album Anyway

Anamanaguchi is back with ‘Magnet,’ a high-octane new single from their forthcoming album Anyway, arriving August 8th via Polyvinyl Record Co.
‘Magnet’ is a charged love anthem that balances chaos and euphoria, reflecting the darker edges of romance while remaining unmistakably uplifting. The single is also a defining moment in the band’s shift to a lyrically driven rock sound—Anyway is their first album where every member sings, replacing their trademark instrumental energy with raw emotion and personal reflection.
Directed by Jared Raab, the accompanying video injects the band into the world of Batman through a creative montage of scenes from the franchise’s cinematic history. Raab’s vision reimagines the long-lost movie tie-in music video format, positioning Anamanaguchi as fans and fictional collaborators in the Batman universe.

“’Magnet’ is a love song with some extreme feelings–an almost dark romance that feels like it’s gliding out of control in a blissful way. We realized after the fact that this balance is a key part of the formula for Batman music.”
Produced with Grammy-winner Dave Fridmann and recorded straight to tape using rare vintage gear, Anyway was born from a four-day session in a converted living room and tracked live in Fridmann’s studio. The sound is analog and urgent, with no undo button—just real-time decisions, heartfelt performances, and a deep sense of connection.
