Post Malone released his new song ‘Pour Me A Drink’ featuring Blake Shelton on Friday after the two teased a collaboration in the works for a while and now ‘Pour Me A Drink’ has a music video just in time to throw its name into consideration for Song of the Summer.
If Google is to be believed, the general components for a ‘Song of the Summer’ are (1) a song needs to be upbeat and cheerful, (2) the song has to be danceable and lean toward the side of high energy, (3) there should be Summer-related themes throughout (like drinking), and (4) there should be an element of nostalgia.
Call me crazy but Post Malone‘s ‘Pour Me A Drink’ with Blake Shelton checks all of those boxes, doesn’t it?
Post Malone jumping across genres over the past few months has been a true delight. Malone dropping ‘Pour Me A Drink’ with Blake Shelton a few months after featuring on the best song from Taylor Swift’s new album shows that Post is about as firmly entrenched in the ‘A List’ of the music industry as one can be.
‘Pour Me A Drink’ by Post Malone featuring Blake Shelton is racking up tens of thousands of views by the hour. It is at 250K listens in the first few hours and it will easily surpass a million in the first 24 hours.
This song will be featured on Post’s upcoming Country Music album, F-1 Trillion, which I’m fairly certain I saw guerrilla marketing for over the weekend in the form of a weird billboard that went viral on social media but maybe that’s my brain playing tricks on me.
‘Pour Me A Drink’ is about as classic of a Summer country rock song as you’ll find. It has all of the elements of having a good time with good people. What’s not to love about that? ‘Somebody pour me a drunk, somebody bum me a smoke’ are lyrics that remind me that we don’t always need to overanalyze music. Sometimes it’s just about having a damn good time.
Now with all of that in mind, the sheer amount of Bud Light featured in this music video is astounding. The vibrant blue Bud Light cans are everywhere and unmistakable. This is definitely a huge win for Bud Light.
