James Gunn’s Superman Legacy is to be shot in Clark Kent’s home in Cleveland, and not only that, the state of Ohio has allegedly awarded $11 million tax credits to the film: David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan in the main leads. This film will be the first movie released from the new DC Universe after Gunn and Peter Safran’s appointment as DC’s new co-heads. Gunn is helming the director’s hat. According to reports, they will start filming in March. Gunn specified that this would not be an origin story, and it has other DC heroes in it, including Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardener and a few others.
Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio, for the unversed. A plaque in Glenville, on the east side of Cleveland, marks the Man of Steel’s history there. Per reports, including Cosmic Book, James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy will be filmed there. The Ohio Department of Development announced that the state had awarded $44 million in tax credits for TV and Film production in Ohio.
Superman: Legacy is under the working title ‘Genesis’ and is also one of the films on the Ohio Department of Development’s list for receiving tax credits, and it has been reportedly given over $11 million. The department director, Lydia Mihalik, said, “Investing in these productions fuels the vibrant creativity that’s alive in Ohio’s communities and serves as a powerful catalyst for economic growth. These projects celebrate and showcase our diverse landscapes, generate jobs, stimulate local businesses, and create a lasting legacy for the arts in Ohio.”
