Flying Lotus is back with his latest new song, the thumping house cut “Ingo Swann.”
With a bustling beat and swirling, skittering synths, “Ingo Swann” is a more energized and uptempo offering from Flying Lotus. He blends kaleidoscopic instrumentation and a jazzy attitude — usual qualities of Flying Lotus’ tunes — with the rigid structure of house music, sandwiching keyboard stabs and bubbling bass within the song’s unceasing groove. “Ingo Swann” follows “Garmonbozia,” which was FlyLo’s first solo, standalone single in five years. Meanwhile, Flying Lotus has been busy scoring movies and television shows and diving head first into the film scene; Ash, his sophomore feature, is on the way, with Amazon Prime Video acquiring the distribution rights to the sci-fi flick this year.
It’s not all just music and movies for Steven Ellison (Flying Lotus) — earlier this year, the polymath revealed that he had written and composed two iPhone ringtones that have been on devices since the 2019 launch of iOS 13.
