Bristol-based alt-indie quartet Adult Leisure returns with their latest single, ‘Dancing Don’t Feel Right.’ Following the success of ‘Kiss Me Like You Miss Her‘ and ‘Borderline,’ the track showcases the band’s genre-fluid sound while delivering a pulsating blend of dancefloor energy and raw emotion.
Recorded and mixed with Ollie Searle at Humm Studios and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Coach Party), ‘Dancing Don’t Feel Right’ offers a vibrant mix of driving basslines, warm synths, and infectious melodies. Neil Scott’s yearning vocals guide the track, creating an irresistible push-and-pull between inhibition and indulgence. The song pulses with a sense of urgency, inviting listeners to surrender to the moment while grappling with inner conflict.
On the track’s lyrical inspirations, the band says:
“We wanted to create a track that asks listeners to step out of line, ditch their inhibitions, and give in to the temptation of doing exactly what they shouldn’t. It’s a narrative of inner conflict, desire, and rebellion. The track captures the feeling of being on the edge: stuck in a moment where you know you should hold back, but something – or someone – won’t let you. ‘Dancing Don’t Feel Right’ is our way of ignoring responsibility, silencing the voice of reason, and giving in to the forbidden thrill of indulgence. The song is about the urge to let loose, to break out of the mold and do the bad thing.”
With ‘Dancing Don’t Feel Right,’ Adult Leisure continues to carve their place in the indie scene, delivering a track that’s both sonically compelling and thematically daring. As they gear up for their biggest headline show to date at Bristol’s Thekla on October 10, 2025, and celebrate their new publishing deal with Wipeout Music, the band proves they’re more than ready for their next chapter.
