Get ready for one of the most anticipated events of the spring! The Mexican Caribbean Music Festival (MCMF), happening on May 17, 2025, in the picturesque Mexican town of Tulum, is set to be an unforgettable experience. With Sting, the 17-time Grammy Award-winning legend, headlining the inaugural festival, this is your chance to see world-class music in one of the most beautiful locations on earth.
This isn’t just any music festival; it’s the reason you need to visit Mexico this May. The festival promises to offer an unforgettable experience in one of the world’s most stunning destinations.
A New Chapter for the Mexican Caribbean
The MCMF is shaking up the region’s entertainment scene. The festival’s evolution comes after 20 years of success with the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, which drew in thousands of attendees every year. Now, reimained, this new chapter embraces multiple music genres, moving beyond jazz to appeal to a broader audience. Sting is the perfect artist to kick off this fresh, exciting format.
“This event represents a new era for the Mexican Caribbean,” says Andrés Martínez, General Director of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council. “In addition to world-class music, we aim to drive growth and promote tourism in the region. The Mexican Caribbean Music Festival helps increase hotel occupancy and solidifies the Riviera Maya as a key cultural and tourist destination for national and international travelers.”
Why Sting? An iconic artist for the inaugural edition
Sting’s performance at the festival is a rare chance to see him live on his STING 3.0 Tour. Fans can expect a mix of his classic hits along with some hidden gems from his extensive catalog. He’ll be joined by his long-time collaborator, guitarist Dominic Miller, and drummer Chris Maas (known for his work with Mumford & Sons and Maggie Rogers).
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime concert that will be a highlight of the year.“Sting’s name alone attracts music lovers from all over the world, and having him perform in Tulum will elevate the entire experience,” says Martínez. “We wanted an artist whose reputation precedes him, someone whose music resonates across generations and genres.”
Tulum: Perfect location for an unforgettable time
Tulum has long been known for its stunning beaches and vibrant cultural scene, making it the perfect location for a festival like this. With its breathtaking natural beauty and luxurious vibe, Tulum offers more than just sunshine. The city provides a backdrop for an unforgettable fusion of music, nature, and relaxation.
The festival will be hosted at ZAMNA Tulum, a renowned venue that’s designed for events of this magnitude. With its open-air setting and incredible atmosphere, the venue is ready to host the expected 25,000 attendees. Martínez shared, “Tulum’s accessibility was a key factor in choosing the location. Not only does it have a fantastic venue, but it also boasts a new international airport, which makes it easier for us to bring in top-tier artists like Sting.”
Easy access for international travelers
Tulum has never been more accessible to international visitors. Thanks to the newly opened Tulum International Airport (TQO), which began welcoming domestic flights in December 2023 and international flights in March 2024, getting to Tulum has never been easier. Several major U.S. and Canadian airlines, including American Airlines, Delta, Air Canada, United Airlines, and WestJet, now offer direct flights to Tulum from cities like Dallas, New York, Miami, Montreal, Toronto, Atlanta, and Houston.
And for those coming via Cancun International Airport, don’t worry—the Maya Train now connects the two airports, making it easy for travelers to head to Tulum. With these seamless travel options, planning your trip to the festival is as simple as ever.
Andrés Martínez proudly shared:
“The Mexican Caribbean is known worldwide for its beaches, but it offers so much more. Visitors can explore the ancient wonders of the Mayan civilization, relax in pristine natural settings, and enjoy a vibrant cultural scene. The festival is an opportunity to experience all of this while enjoying a night of unforgettable music.”
Beyond the music, the festival highlights everything the Mexican Caribbean has to offer, from luxury resorts and boutique hotels to wellness centers and cultural experiences.
