They were then seen clothes shopping in the TriBeCa area with Meg stepping out of a store carrying a white bag.

Ageless Meg’s blonde hair blew across her face in the light breeze, and she wore a long-sleeved white top and loose navy trousers.

Her student daughter, who was adopted from China as a 14 month old baby in 2006, dressed in a butterfly print blouse and blue jeans.

Despite her A-list status, Meg has always kept her feet firmly on the ground and seems a typical mum.

She has spoken openly and honestly about her children; she also has a biological son Jack, 31, from her marriage to Dennis Quaid, who she divorced in 2001.

Meg told Redbook magazine in 2007 that she believed she and Daisy were meant to be together.

She said: “I am convinced, completely convinced that there was nothing random about it. She is the daughter I should have.

“I never felt like I was on a rescue mission or anything like that. I just really wanted a baby.”

The process had a profound impact on Meg, who was a single at the time, and she told the Los Angeles Times: “[Adoption] taught me a lot about any expectations you have in life. Just toss them away. Throw them out.”

She recently described her daughter as having lots of different interests and was appreciative of the fact she grew up and memories of an era before smart phones were the norm.

Classic scene where Meg Ryan fakes orgasm in restaurant

Daisy is a movie buff too, who particularly enjoys classics including The Philadelphia Story and It’s a Wonderful Life, though she’s has watched less than a handful of her mum’s famous films.

The movie star was the queen of 90s rom-coms and will be forever be remembered for faking an orgasm in a crowded restaurant a famous scene in When Harry Met Sally.

That piece of cinematic history has been difficult to deal with for her two kids though.

In a conversation with Carol Burnett for Interview magazine, Meg explained how more than three decades later, there’s still no escaping it.

She said: “It’s funny, my son just called me this morning and he’s in New York staying at a hotel that’s right across the street from Katz’s Deli [where the scene was shot].

“My daughter was here and everybody was on speaker, and they were like, ‘Mom, this is a very unique embarrassment.'”

In recent years Meg has stepped back from acting and has been spending more time with her family.

“My kids have always been a blast,” she told People. “They’re the best hang. They’re so alive in their curiosity and interest in the world.”

Her son Jack is now himself a household name thanks largely to his role in Amazon Prime’s dark superhero drama The Boys.

Over four series, Jack, who plays Hughie Campbell, has proven his dramatic chops with comedic, emotional and action-packed moments.

But that hasn’t stopped nepo-baby accusations being levelled at him due to his A-list parents.

However, Meg told Glamour, she knew Jack was going to be a star based on merit when she watched him in a school performance.

She said: “I remember seeing him in a middle school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He was playing Bottom. I was newly divorced from his dad, and he was seated at the other side of the gym. I had my head in my hands and was like, ‘Oh, no. He’s good. He’s really good.’ I leaned forward, and I see Dennis, and he’s also leaning forward with his head in his hands. I just knew.

“Jack is really talented. He’s more of a natural than I’ll ever be. That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege.”
