Gracie Abrams can’t believe her life.
There’s no doubt that the 25-year-old singer is a music sensation. She’s fresh off Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, has her biggest hit to date with “That’s So True,” and was the most recent musical performer on “Saturday Night Live.”
Abrams — the daughter of “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” director J.J. Abrams — opened up about her success in an interview with Nylon magazine published on Tuesday.
“They’re like, ‘What in the world?’” she joked when asked about her parent’s reaction to her fame. “But it’s really sweet.”
While her father is a well-known sci-fi director, she shared that her mom is “the toughest person I know.”
“The way that she treats people is how I want to treat people, and for me to see her be that way towards this community that cares so much about the music …” the singer shared as her voice trailed off. “Her support and encouragement of my writing my whole life is the reason that I’m doing any of this now.”
Abrams recently made her “SNL” debut, starring as the musical guest on the long-running sketch show on Dec. 14, while comedic legend Chris Rock served as host.
Unpacking her “SNL” appearance, Abrams said she almost felt like she “cheated the system.”
“For some reason, booking the Eras Tour and booking SNL exist in the same part of my brain where I didn’t know that chemicals in my head could release like that,” she told the outlet.
“It’s such a privilege, an honor to do it. And also Chris Rock hosting is so f – – king nuts!” Abrams added. “I feel like I somehow cheated the system into being there for his show.”
She also spoke about taking the stage during Swift’s Eras Tour, which included the final show on Dec. 8 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
“Everyone had been crying all day. It felt like the last day of school backstage,” Abrams said. “Everyone was walking around with their [Eras Tour] books, signing each other’s books. We were all walking around with Sharpies.”
She added, “I’m feeling emotional and grateful and in a state of shock that we don’t, as a global community, get to experience that source of light anymore.”
While Abrams was open about her success, she was tight-lipped when asked about her relationship with “Gladiator II” actor Paul Mescal.
The pair have been photographed together several times over the past six months.
When asked about navigating high-profile relationships under the public microscope, she responded, “That has nothing to do with me. It doesn’t affect me.”
Abrams is still going strong in 2025, too.
She announced a new tour that includes several Madison Square Garden shows.
