In early 2022 Carole revealed she drastically changed her approach to health. “It’s the time of year when people reassess. I don’t make new year resolutions but I like hitting goals, short (sleep 7 hours) and long. Health is a long one,” she said. She added that after running the NYC marathon in 2017, she put more priority on her health. “Yes I was born with a strong metabolism and sporty genes…that helps but it doesn’t guarantee health,” she added.

Carole declared in the Instagram post that she spent her “entire adult life eating junky.” In 2016 she told People that she pretty much ate whatever she wanted. “I don’t have a food philosophy other than: Everything tastes better with salt. My diet reflects the fact that I grew up on pasta and carbs and the occasional piece of fruit in a family with five hungry kids. I learned to eat fast. My eating habits reflect a long and consistent belief that anything that can be eaten quick — and preferably standing up — is best,” she said. However, in her Instagram post she revealed that she eats a lot healthier now. “I started eating clean (no dieting or calorie counting)” she said.

When it comes to Carole’s marathon training “slow & steady wins the race,” she revealed in her post. “I train 3, sometimes 4, days a week for 50 mins. Never longer. But always at least 3 days.”

“Avoiding the gym” was also something Carole did prior to recommitting to health. “You have to find the exercise that works for you. I tried yoga and it didn’t motivate me. Classes bored me (too easy to cheat 😉)I knew running was stressful on joints long term,” Carole said in her post. “Then I started weight training and I loved it. Females don’t necessarily associate lifting as exercise for women but it’s the best kind as you get older. I’m not excessive about it but I am consistent.Find what works for you and stick with it. Start once a week, master that then go to two days.” Why does she love lifting? “I focus on lifting weights and not cardio because that works for my body type. I’ve built muscle, gained pounds and lost inches. My body mass index is ‘athletic’ whatever that means. I’m no athlete but I feel strong when I used to feel scrawny.”

You won’t find Carole on a cleanse but she does appreciate another trendy method. “I don’t like cleanses, and I don’t believe in them. You know what the cleanse is? Don’t eat for a whole day. Don’t eat anything. Fasting one day a week is the healthiest thing. You’ll live to 100,” she told Elle.
