What is the viral “Are you sure” Invincible trend on TikTok?

TikTok has seen its fair share of meme trends, and in March 2025, an Invincible-related meme took over the platform: the “Are you sure?” edits.

These memes play on a scene from the hit animated series Invincible, where the character Omni-Man (voiced by J.K. Simmons) skeptically asks his son Mark (Steven Yeun), “Are you sure?” in response to Mark announcing that he has finally received his superpowers.

The moment, originally from the show’s first season, has now been widely edited in absurd, brainrot-style memes across TikTok.

Origin of the “Are you sure?” meme

The Invincible pilot episode, which premiered on March 26, 2021, follows teenager Mark Grayson as he discovers his newfound superpowers.

In a pivotal dinner scene, he excitedly tells his parents, only for his father, Omni-Man, to respond with a skeptical, “Are you sure?” rather than the expected enthusiasm. The awkward exchange stood out to fans, and over time, became meme material.

A clip of this scene was uploaded to YouTube by Anime Moments on May 26, 2021, where it gathered over 200,000 views. However, it wasn’t until March 2025 – coinciding with the conclusion of Invincible Season 3 – that TikTokers began transforming the scene into a viral trend.

The first known “Are you sure?” edit was posted by TikTok user mbvlayne on March 9, 2025, racking up over 1.4 million views and 287,000 likes. From there, the meme quickly evolved into various formats.

For example, realomniman8 posted a version with a dimmed screen on March 17, gathering over 181,000 views. Many joked in the comments about how “they didn’t pay the electric bill.”

On March 18, sailordogs uploaded a heavily pixelated version with ominous music, which amassed 1.7 million views views and 184,000 likes.

The same day, invincihdih posted a deep-fried, oversaturated version of the clip, earning more than 1.3 million views.

Like many brainrot-style memes, the “Are you sure?” edit thrives on absurdity. The way Omni-Man’s skeptical tone contrasts with Mark’s excitement makes it perfect for ironic or exaggerated reactions.

It also builds on the already massive meme culture surrounding Invincible, which previously gave rise to viral formats like the ‘Think, Mark!‘ meme in 2021 and the Omni-Man staring edits.

As March comes to a close, the trend is still going strong, with countless variations popping up all over TikTok’s For You Page. Whether it’ll stick around as long as ‘Think, Mark!’ is anyone’s guess, but for now, it’s just another reminder of how much the internet loves a good Invincible meme.

It’s just one of the many trends blowing up on TikTok in 2025, alongside the popular Tim Cheese meme and the ‘Velocity’ challenge.
