The ‘Shoebody Bop’ song, often referred to as the ‘summoning’ meme, is the latest TikTok trend to captivate users with its surreal humor and catchy acapella tune.
Originating from an animated video by Drue Langlois and The Minute Hour, the ‘Shoebody Bop’ summoning meme has gained massive traction in 2025, thanks to its absurd premise and ritualistic aesthetic. Here’s everything you need to know about the TikTok trend.
What is the Shoebody Bop?
‘Shoebody Bop’ refers to a quirky acapella song from a 2022 animated video by Drue Langlois, created in collaboration with YouTuber The Minute Hour.
The animation depicts a priest-like figure in blue robes standing in a river and headbutting individuals dressed in white robes while others sing the titular ‘Shoebody Bop.’
The intensity of the headbutts escalates until men dressed in red robes summon a spiked red and blue demon. The animation style has been compared to Adult Swim, which has contributed to its appeal.
Serving as a follow-up to the 2018 animation Something Terribly Offensive, this bizarre video was also voiced by The Minute Hour and brought to life through Langlois’s unique animation. In the earlier one, a man repeatedly headbutts another in a bank after hearing something offensive.
The ‘Shoebody Bop’ video, originally posted in 2022, gained new life in early 2025 when The Minute Hour rebranded their channel to GAMER.CHURCH and unlisted both videos. Langlois reposted the animation on January 10, 2025, reigniting its popularity and sparking the viral trend.
Shoebody Bop meme takes over TikTok
The meme exploded on TikTok in March 2025, after a green-screen clip of red-robed figures singing the ritualistic ‘Shoebody Bop’ song was widely adopted. On March 8, TikToker synthosarcade used the clip to joke about doing rituals to win in Marvel Rivals, amassing over 413,000 views.
Bigbadboyben followed on March 19 with a video captioned, “When she says come to bed but the boys summoning me online,” earning over 1.2 million views.
TikToker acebanca_official added a personal twist on March 21 by reenacting the meme with a towel in place of a cloak, gathering 1.1 million views. “POV: That animated video on your FYP every 3rd scroll,” he captioned the clip.
The sound has since been featured in over 13,700 videos, with users creating their own hilarious interpretations of the surreal summoning ritual.
It’s just one of the many trends taking off on TikTok in March 2025, alongside the popular ‘I got 21 bullets inside of this clip’ craze and the Hotspot Bro meme.
