The Beatles have announced plans to reissue their seminal 1966 album, Revolver. The expanded edition of the beloved LP will drop on Oct. 28 via Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe. As a preview of what’s to come, the ensemble has shared a new mix of their opening number, “Taxman,” listen now.
The original 14-track was recently remixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell. Together, the duo has brought the cherished recordings into the modern era using advanced sound technology sourced from Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films.
Moreover, the album features 28 early takes on tunes from The Beatles’ original recording sessions. The physical and digital deluxe editions include three home demos, a 100-page hardbound book, and a four-track EP containing new stereo mixes and remastered original mono mixes of “Paperback Writer,” “Rain” and more.
The upcoming rerelease of Revolver marks a trend for The Beatles, who reissued Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in celebration of the album’s 50th anniversary in 2017, The White Album in 2018, Abbey Road in 2019, and most recently, Let It Be, which dropped last year.
