Mahali has released a new single with Hawaiian reggae band Seven Suns. Titled “Sunshine,” the song expresses Mahali’s desire for warm rays during the winter months. The track presents like bottled sunshine, giving listeners an escape whenever the doom and gloom of cold weather catches up.
“Sunshine” was produced by Spencer Thomson (Moon Taxi), who also worked on the artist’s recent singles, “Wise Man,” King of the Low,” “Free Ride” and “Circus Life,” which arrived via Ineffable Records. The latest single comes ahead of Mahali’s April 12 concert at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu.
Speaking to the roots of the number, Mahali says, “I wrote ‘Sunshine’ about missing the sun and its warm embrace during the long cold winter. So glad I got to work with Seven Suns on this song! I’m a big fan of their music, and their contribution to the song really elevated it and brought the perfect vibes”
Justin Kawilka of Seven Suns adds, “We are so grateful to be doing our first feature as a band on this song with Mihali. As Mihali calls for more ‘Sunshine,’ what could be more appropriate than the strength of Seven Suns! It feels like this pairing was meant to be and we are so excited for everyone to hit repeat on it over and over.”
“Sunshine” continues Mahali’s 2024 trend of dropping monthly singles. Last year, he delivered collaborations with Little Stranger, Andy Frasco, Wax, Coyote Island, Collie Buddz, and Moon Taxi. Already this year, he has supported Frasco and moe. on the road.
