How Tate McRae Stays Fit While Owning the Stage

Tate McRae has become one of the most iconic pop stars out there. The Canadian singer, songwriter, and dancer is known for her hit singles like “You Broke Me First,” “She’s All I Wanna Be,” “Greedy,” and “It’s ok I’m ok.” Recently, her third album, So Close To What, debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. She Dances

Tate McRae is known for her impressive dance moves onstage and in her music videos. In fact, she previously trained as a ballerina at the School of Alberta Ballet, according to PopSugar. She also secured third place during season 13 of So You Think You Can Dance. Naturally, dancing is one of the ways McRae keeps herself in shape.

McRae previously told New Beauty, “My shows are exhausting”—and from the incredible performances the star puts on, we totally get it.

She Meditates

One of the ways McRae prepares for her shows? By practicing meditation.

“I try to do grounding meditations—just centering my body and making sure it feels like I’m connected to a higher power,” the singer shared with Women’s Health. “I believe energy is everything—what you put out is exactly what reflects onto you.”

She Does A Variety Of Workouts

McRae makes sure to hit the gym on a regular basis. She shared in her New Beauty interview that she enjoys doing a variety of workouts.

“I go to the gym and do weights and cardio whenever I’m back in Los Angeles,” McRae said. “And then if I’m on tour, I’ll usually hit Barry’s Boot Camp sometimes, which is the worst workout of all time.”

She Fuels Her Body for Exercise

McRae opened up about her diet in an interview with EatingWell. She revealed that she consumes plenty of protein, like eggs, and makes sure to drink lemon water first thing in the morning before enjoying breakfast and hitting the gym.

“I am a big fan of eggs,” she said. “I eat a lot, probably way too many hard-boiled eggs. I’m 20, I’m not a perfect eater whatsoever and I think traveling makes that 10 times harder. But I think it’s all about fueling my body for my workouts and making sure I feel good, I feel full and that I’m drinking water between every couple bites.”

The singer also noted, “I think different foods work well for different bodies, so I think it’s trusting your body on what it wants and not restricting yourself. I feel like the more consistent I am with just listening to what I want and what makes me feel good has always resulted in me loving the way that my body feels. It helps me for performances and in the studio so that I have the most energy.”
