Country star Zach Bryan sells out Michigan Stadium, selling over 112,000 tickets in two-and-a-half hours on Friday.

The feat puts Bryan in the running to break the all-time US record for a ticketed concert by a single act, currently held by country legend George Strait.

“You guys just sold out the biggest show in American history,” Bryan wrote on Instagram. “I owe you my life, my humility, and every ounce of effort I have. I love y’all more than any song.”

The singer added, “Thank you so much for having us, @uofmichigan, we won’t let you down.” Michigan Stadium, nicknamed “The Big House,” is proudly the largest stadium in the United States, the largest football stadium in the Western Hemisphere, and the third-largest stadium in the world. Bryan’s performance marks the first time an artist will headline a concert there.

“We are excited to have award-winning artist Zach Bryan perform the very first concert at Michigan Stadium,” said Warde Manuel, University of Michigan’s Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics. “We have been studying and evaluating what it takes to host a concert at Michigan Stadium for a couple of years, and today marks that next step in the venue with great partners.” Partners thanked include AEG Presents and the University’s athletic department staff.

Bryan’s tickets ranged from $55 to over $1,000. With every ticket sold, the artist stands to pack the 107,000-seat stadium’s main bowl, alongside another 5,500 seats to be configured on the field. He will be joined by John Mayer and other special guests for the show on September 27.

George Strait set the US concert-attendance record last summer, drawing 110,905 fans to his show at Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field. His record shattered that held previously by the Grateful Dead, who played to a crowd of 107,019 in 1977 at a New Jersey raceway show.
