The song takes listeners on a wild ride through lead singer Alex Moore’s dream-inspired vision, layered with wiry guitar riffs and an irresistible beat.
‘Stellar Cast’ marks the band’s second release of 2024, following the popular summer single ‘No Direction.’ The track builds from a thunderous start into fast-paced lyrics and punchy guitar lines, capturing the imagination of listeners through Moore’s mysterious dreams, which originated after a memorable performance at the Brudenell in Leeds.
Describing his inspiration, Moore recalls:
“It was one of the rare times I’d had a bit too much to drink before going on stage. That night on the bus back, I had a crazy dream, probably fuelled by all the Jamaican ale I refer to in the song. In the dream, there was a strange figure at the end of my bed that I couldn’t get out of my head for a long time after.”
Moore delves into the story’s complexity, describing a character torn between fascination and confusion over a mysterious, otherworldly figure who is part friend, part foe, and “maybe even a lover.” The figure, much like the Jamaican ale that fueled Moore’s imagination, is alluring yet fleeting, leaving a lasting impact that becomes impossible to shake.
‘Stellar Cast’ is out now.
