Kate Pierson, best known as the co-leading vocalist of The B-52s, is back to announce a new album, Radios and Rainbows, out September 20th. She’s also shared the album’s second single, “Evil Love.”
Comprised of 12 songs, Radios and Rainbows serves as Kate Pierson’s second solo album after 2015’s Guitars and Microphones. She enlisted songwriters and producers such as Sia, Bleu McCauley, Chris Braide, and Jimmy Harry for Radios and Rainbows, and the album spans multiple genres with Pierson’s inimitable voice at the fore.
“It’s an eclectic group of songs,” Pierson said in a statement, “Anthems, dance things, a disco song… Overall, the album has an upbeat vibe because I wanted to put out something positive in these dark times. I wanted to make it fun!”
“Evil Love” is the latest offering from Radios and Rainbows, following Pierson’s collaboration with Sia “Every Day is Halloween” from last fall. With a nostalgic, noir-esque twist and a story about getting revenge on a former lover, “Evil Love” is as dramatic as its Radios and Rainbows predecessor, and features a soaring vocal performance from Pierson.
“Sometimes evil love is the only love you need. A not so true tale of obsessive possessiveness and righteous revenge. I started out writing a song with the amazing Bleu McCauley with the idea of a song about forgiveness; but when our creative chemistries collided, the result was a noir thriller of a song set on the coast of Maine. And it’s one hell of a storm – so hang onto your hats for ‘Evil Love’ !,” Pierson wrote. Stream “Evil Love” below.
Kate Pierson may be gearing up for another solo album cycle, but she’s also got a slew of dates left with The B-52s for their residency at The Venetian in Las Vegas this fall. Get tickets to see The B-52s here.
Meanwhile, Pierson recently parted ways with her unique Joshua Tree airstream compound Kate’s Lazy Desert, but continues to run vacation lodges in Cape Cod and the Catskills.
