T-Pain made headlines last year when he released a cover of the Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs” and knocked it out of the park. Now, the rapper/singer has gotten the attention of Ozzy Osbourne himself.
The Prince of Darkness took to X, formerly Twitter, to repost a live clip of T-Pain covering “War Pigs.” Like the aforementioned studio version of the cover, T-Pain kills it here as well, delivering a soulful vocal performance — no auto-tune required.
Wrote an impressed Ozzy: “This is the best cover of ‘War Pigs’ ever. Why didn’t you guys call me?”
Perhaps T-Pain will make an appearance on Ozzy’s next album, considering his previous two have featured numerous guest performers. Ozzy recently said that he plans to record the follow-up to 2022’s Patient Number 9 this year, ideally with producer Andrew Watt behind the board once again.
“I’ve done two albums fairly recently, but I want to do one more album and then go back on the road,” he revealed in an interview last September. “I’m just starting to work on it now, and we’ll be recording in the early part of next year. I want to take my time with this one.”
T-Pain’s studio version of “War Pigs” appeared on his 2023 release On Top of the Covers, which also features him singing songs by Journey, Sam Cooke, and more.
Below you can see Ozzy’s reaction to T-Pain’s live rendition of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” and listen to the T-Pain’s full studio version, as well.
