Porcupine Tree frontman Steven Wilson has announced the North American leg of his solo outing “The Overview Tour.”

A Live Nation ticket pre-sale for select dates begins Wednesday (January 29th) at 10 a.m. local time using the code OCTAVE. General ticket sales start Friday (January 31st) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.

Wilson will also be touring Europe earlier in the year as he supports his forthcoming new album, The Overview, which arrives March 14th.

The prog luminary described his latest opus as “a 42-minute long journey based on the reported ‘overview effect,’ whereby astronauts seeing the Earth from space undergo a transformative cognitive shift, most often experiencing an overwhelming appreciation and perception of beauty, and an increased sense of connection to other people and the Earth as a whole.”

“However, not all experiences are positive; some see the Earth truly for what it is,” he continued via a press release, “insignificant and lost in the vastness of space, and the human race as a troubled species. As a reflection of that, the album presents images and stories of life on Earth, both good and bad.”

While The Overview was originally conceived as a solo album, Wilson would go on to collaborate with numerous musicians on the recordings including Craig Blundell (drums), Adam Holzman (keyboards), and Randy McStine (guitars), with XTC’s Andy Partridge contributing lyrics on the 23-minute movement “Objects Outlive Us.”
