The energetic performance leaned into the rock edge woven into the album, and Van Etten’s expansive vocals were front and center for the live staging.

While this 2025 record technically marks the debut LP for Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory as a group, the singer-songwriter has been playing live with Jorge Balbi (drums, machines), Devra Hoff (bass, vocals), and Teeny Lieberson (synth, piano, guitar, vocals) for years now. The appearance on The Tonight Show falls in the midst of an ongoing tour, with the crew scheduled to jump over to Europe before continuing performances in the US in April.

Releasing an official album with her longtime band has been in the works for Van Etten for years; revisit our 2022 interview with the artist, in which she teased the concept long before recording had begun.
