Rocket, one of our emerging artists to watch in 2025, are back with the new song “Crossing Fingers.”
Atop a rocking waltz, Rocket once again bring the distortion levels high and reprise their throttling indie rock sound on “Crossing Fingers.” The song describes the tension in a new relationship between optimism and pessimism; vocalist Alithea Tuttle wants to jump in the deep end and see where things go, but is worried about the reality of changing and growing together rather than apart. “You’re sacrificing years for a second of doubt,” she warns herself in the first verse, hoping to savor every good moment in the partnership lest things go south.
In a press release, Tuttle describes “Crossing Fingers” as “the story of falling so deep into a partnership with someone and bearing the weight of the fear of messing it all up. Knowing that changing for them would mean sacrificing yourself, but not being able to help the feeling of wanting to change for them. Hoping that the two of you can grow together over years and years, but not knowing if that is even in the cards for you. Knowing that only time will tell.” Stream the new song below.
