Primus Guitarist Larry LaLonde’s Loses House to LA Wildfire

Primus guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde has tragically lost his home to one of the Los Angeles wildfires, as reported by his bandmate, singer-bassist Les Claypool.

LaLonde’s home is one of thousands destroyed by the raging wildfires that have wreaked havoc all over Los Angeles county. While Claypool didn’t specify which of the fires was responsible for decimating LaLonde’s home, he did share a picture of the house burned completely to the ground, with only the fireplace and chimney still standing.

“All that is left of our good friend Ler Lalonde’s home,” wrote Claypool on Instagram. “When Mother Nature gets up on her hind legs, it can be brutal. My heart hurts for him and his family.”

LaLonde has been a member of Primus since 1989. He and Claypool are currently holding an open audition for a new drummer, following the departure of Tim “Herb” Alexander in October.

Meanwhile, Spiritbox bassist Josh Gilbert (formerly of As I Lay Dying) also lost his home to the LA wildfires. The musician shared a post from his wife showing a picture of his house completely destroyed.

Among the musicians who were forced to evacuate during the fires are Rage Against the Machine’s Brad Wilk and Anthrax’s Scott Ian. On Instagram, Wilk wrote, “Thanks to everyone reaching out. We are good, but had to evacuate last night. Hosed down the house and grabbed the humans and animals and split…. Oh, I did grab one thing from the house… this VH woman and children first o.g. tee… very apropos. Everybody please be careful and stay safe.”

Consequence has put together a list of fundraising efforts and donation links to help the victims of the LA wildfires, including some that are specifically designated to aid musicians in the area. Click here to find out how you can help.
