Primus have unveiled a new single titled “Little Lord Fentanyl” featuring Tool singer Maynard James Keenan. The track marks Primus’ first new song in three years, and their first recording with new drummer John Hoffman.

The new tune comes in the midst of the “Sessanta V2.0” tour, featuring Primus and Keenan’s bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. The outing is scheduled through a June 7th show in Auburn, Washington, with last-minute tickets available here.

A press release describes the new song “Little Lord Fentanyl” as a “twisted fable steeped in groove and dark humor.” New drummer Hoffman offers playful rhythms alongside some funky bass playing by Primus frontman Les Claypool, who shares vocal duties with Keenan.

The track is Primus’ first song since the release of their 2022 Conspiranoid EP. Hoffman beat out more than 6,000 drummers in an open audition to land the Primus gig, following the departure of longtime stickman Tim “Herb” Alexander.

After the “Sessanta V2.0” run, Primus will headline their own “Onward & Upward Tour” this summer, with support from Ty Segall and MonoNeon on select dates. Tickets for that outing can be found here.
