Poison the Well’s First New Song in 15 Years “Trembling Level”

Poison the Well have unveiled the new single “Trembling Level,” their first new song in 15 years. It also marks their first release via the band’s new label, SharpTone Records.

The song sees the reunited metalcore act traversing a lot of territory in under three minutes, from breakneck hardcore to harmonious alt-rock. The variation was intentional, as guitarist Ryan Primack revealed, rendering a snapshot of the band’s entire catalog in a single track.

“For me, I was trying to figure how to effectively incorporate elements from our whole discography into one song,” Primack said in a press release. “We ended up with this, and it has a little bit of everything we’ve done throughout the course of our existence.”

“Lyrically, it’s about tackling a fear,” added frontman Jeff Moreira. “I tend to write based on personal experience. You’re approaching something you’re scared to do, going through it, and realizing the hardest parts are actually the ones you should be looking towards because those will lead you to success.”

The single arrives ahead of Poison the Well’s North American tour in April. The outing celebrates the 25th anniversary of the group’s vaunted debut album, 1999’s The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation, and features a stacked support bill featuring Glassjaw, Better Lovers, and Teenage Wrist.
