Black Sabbath legends Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler appear in a new commercial for the Aston Villa football club’s home kit reveal.
The one-minute clip is soundtracked by the Sabbath classic “Paranoid” and sees Ozzy and Geezer engaging in a phone call — no doubt a more frequent occurrence since the two have gotten back in touch as of late.
Ozzy opens by suggesting they play Villa Park, the club’s home stadium in Birmingham — also Sabbath’s hometown.
“As long as I’m left wing,” replies Geezer.
Then it cuts to a montage featuring Aston Villa players such as Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Martinez, and John McGinn, as well as manager Unai Emery. Later on, Ozzy declares he’s “the biggest frontman to come out of Birmingham” while donning Aston Villa’s new Adidas home kit.
Ozzy and Geezer grew up near Villa Park and are lifelong fans of the club. Last month, Butler made an appearance at the stadium when he joined Foo Fighters’ for a rendition of “Paranoid”; meanwhile Ozzy hopes to perform two farewell concerts at Villa Park, according to his wife Sharon.
“He won’t tour again but we are planning on doing two more shows to say goodbye as he feels like ‘I have never said goodbye to my fans and I want to say goodbye properly,’” she told The Mirror earlier this year, adding, “We will do it in Aston Villa where Ozzy is from.”
