Lamb of God have released a remix of their song “Laid to Rest” by HEALTH, an inclusion on the upcoming Ashes of the Wake 20th Anniversary Edition, out August 30th.
The remix arrives a day before Lamb of God kick off their co-headlining tour with Mastodon on Friday (July 19th) in Grand Prairie, Texas (get tickets here). The “Ashes of Leviathan Tour” will see Lamb of God playing Ashes of the Wake in full and Mastodon performing Leviathan in its entirety. Notably, Slayer guitarist Kerry King and his solo band will provide direct support.
Meanwhile, the remix of “Laid to Rest” re-imagines Lamb of God as an industrial metal band. HEALTH pull off a crafty edit of the original stems, melding the guitars into a punchy techno beat and leaving Randy Blythe’s vocals isolated on top.
“When we were discussing ideas for the 20th anniversary of Ashes of the Wake, a HEALTH remix was one of the first things we thought of,” stated Blythe in the press release. “Thanks to those guys for being a part of the anniversary release.”
HEALTH added, diverting any potential backlash: “Before you get angry with us for ruining your favorite song, please try to remember that Lamb of God asked us to do this remix. Enjoy!”
The 20th anniversary edition of Ashes of the Wake also features a remixes of “Omertá” by Justin K. Broadrick (Godflesh) and “Another Nail for Your Coffin” by Kublai Khan TX and Malevolence, as well as pre-production demos and live tracks.
