Kelly Clarkson took on Heart’s timeless classic “Crazy on You” on the latest episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she was joined by Ann and Nancy Wilson themselves. Watch the performance below.
Before launching into the cover, Ann Wilson told Clarkson that “Crazy on You” was the “first song I ever recorded as a singer in a studio,” adding that her vocals came from “feeling” because she didn’t have “a bunch of technique yet.”
“I definitely felt how to say certain words, how to jump in early sometimes,” Wilson said. “How to blue note things. Just feel that kind of stuff.”
Then, Clarkson belted out the song with Nancy Wilson vigorously strumming away on acoustic guitar and Ann nodding her approval. “Remember that time I got cheered on by Ann Wilson,” Clarkson said excitedly.
Elsewhere in the episode, Heart also discussed recording “Barracuda” and presented Clarkson with a custom leather jacket. Watch clips of those segments below.
On a related note, Nancy Wilson recently joined The Story Behind the Song podcast to discuss the making of “Crazy on You.” Listen to the episode below.
Earlier this month, Heart previewed their “Royal Flush Tour” on The Tonight Show, ripping through “Barracuda” and teaming up with Jimmy Fallon to perform Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” with the backdrop of the solar eclipse in New York City.
