Howie Mandel Sorry for Ambushing Bill Burr with Billy Corgan

Howie Mandel is expressing remorse after surprising Bill Burr with an appearance by Billy Corgan during a recent episode of  his Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast.

“I want to apologize,” Mandel said on the latest episode of the podcast, which he co-hosts with his daughter, Jackelyn Schultz. “I feel horrible. I’m sorry Bill, I’m sorry Billy … I legitimately thought I was doing something nice, I swear to you. I thought it was funny.”

To quickly recap, Corgan had been a guest on Mandel’s podcast back in November, when the Smashing Pumpkins frontman suggested that he and Burr could be half-brothers, based on their similar looks and his father’s romantic escapades as a traveling musician.

Mandel then had Burr on a guest in January, and partway through the interview, he surprised the comedian by welcoming Corgan, who sat down right next to Burr. Upon seeing Corgan, Burr told Mandel, “You’re an asshole.” Burr proceeded to look pissed off throughout his meeting with Corgan, while giving Mandel a hard time.

While Burr’s surly demeanor appeared to be an act, apparently the funnyman was genuinely ticked off. Shortly thereafter, Burr appeared on Rich Eisen’s podcast, and referred to Mandel as a “Hollywood whore.”

Along with his apology, Mandel noted that he texted Burr to thank him for a “good episode,” but hasn’t heard a “peep” from him.

Meanwhile, Corgan recently announced his own podcast, The Magnificent Others, featuring the Smashing Pumpkins singer-guitarist sitting down with the likes of Gene Simmons, Corey Feldman, Tom Morello, and more. The first episode, featuring Simmons, is available to stream now.
