A new single from electronic pioneer SOPHIE’s upcoming posthumous album is here. Titled “Berlin Nightmare,” the track features fellow dance and electronic artist Evita Manji. Stream it below.
The production on “Berlin Nightmare” embraces thick, heavy bass, swampy water sounds, and a drop into an upbeat chorus. As with the rest of SOPHIE, it was co-produced by Benny Long.
Slated to be the first and only project of its kind, SOPHIE is due for release on September 27th and was announced in June alongside lead single “Reason Why” featuring Kim Petras and BC Kingdom.
In a statement from SOPHIE’s family, the forthcoming album was described as one that “moves at an emotional level, encouraging the listener to intuitively embrace the ever-evolving landscape of light and dark, soft and hard, to the end of self-love and joyful self-acceptance.”
Charli XCX recently unveiled a tribute track to SOPHIE called “So I” from her summer smash LP, Brat. Previously, Charli said her close collaborator and friend “completely changed” her life.
